NAKOSS: The First Female In History To Stand A Chance.

The fact that more women are willing to run for office is a positive step.

From suffragettes to modern day feminists, women and men have fought long and hard for women’s right to vote and hold office.

Progress is clear. As of 2015, women in every country in the world have the right to vote; the first nation to grant female suffrage was New Zealand in 1893, and the last country was Saudi Arabia in 2015.
Today, several countries are led by females and some countries, such as Finland, also have a cabinet dominated by women. These achievements have been possible in large part thanks to gender equality measures.

The full and equitable participation of women in public life is essential to building and sustaining strong, vibrant democracies. When women are not participating in politics, it’s less likely that policies will benefit them. Women need to participate to bring attention to issues that uniquely affect them, and to change attitudes towards gender.
When we talk about women’s political participation, it is easy for us to imagine the empty seats around the decision-making table, and a little more difficult to picture the many obstacles and challenges women face to get into those seats.
There is a growing recognition that women in 2020 are marginalized from political and public life.
Something emerging world leaders like Governor Yahaya Bello is correcting, consciously and actively.

Having gone the whole mile ensuring that women are also at the decision making table, Gov. Bello of Kogi state is today a reference point with high profile appointments like the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade Arike whose impact has been widely appreciated everywhere in Nigeria. This has given hope to many young women around the country to see opportunities no matter how restricted or limited.

The Balance in Political appointments and opportunities that brought the likes of Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani (FCT Minister), 21 Local government Vice Chairmen, 21 Council Leaders and over 21 Councilors has today also motivated women to come all out and partake in the process.

As a practical believer of the Affirmative action, the foresight of Gov. Bello to bring more women to table is gaining acceptance and trickling down, recently the SUG of the Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Kogi State elected the first female President.
In the same vein, a female is aspiring for the position of the National President of the National Association of Kogi State Student (NAKOSS).

With a rich profile at a very young age, Comrade Rachael Mojirola Balogun is poised to be the First Female National President of NAKOSS going by her track records, extensive consultations and outreaches to several institutions.
At a quick glance, Comrade Mojirola has served as;

√ Welfare Director, Federation of Ogidi Students Union in 2016

√ Vice president, National Association of Okun Students, Federal University Lokoja Chapter in 2017

√ President, National Association of Okun Students, (NAOS) Federal University Lokoja in 2018 and Public Relations Officer, Federation of Ogidi Student’s Union (FOSU) in 2018.

√ National President, Ijumu Students Union in 2019

√ Education Director, Okun Youth Development Association (OYDA), 2017-2019,

√ State Treasurer, Kogi Youth Council (KYC), 2019

√ State Financial Secretary, Youth For New Nigeria (YNN), 2019

√ State Secretary, Kogi Women and Ladies for One Voice (KWLV), 2021

√ National Vice President, Young Women New Wave (YWNW), 2020

√ National Coordinator, Nigeria Youth For Change (NYC) till date.

The Administration of Gov. Bello has been synonymous with the first of many things for the female gender. From SSG to the Local Government Councils to Head of Government Agencies and MDAs to Student Representatives etc NAKOSS will be the icing of the cake.

With the concerted efforts of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, very soon Kogi State will be churning out the likes of The DG WTO Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed, Gbemisola Saraki, Oby Ezekwesili, Ambassador Kema Chikwe, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Late Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Senator Stella Oduah, Pauline Tallen etc

In conclusion, in the words of Wafa Bani Mustafa, (Chairperson of the Coalition of Women Members of Parliaments from Arab Countries.)

“Empowering women and girls to be influential powerful leaders should remain a passion, as I believe that it is not an option and a choice for women to take part in political life. It is a necessity and a duty to achieve sustainable development and democracy.”

2023 Presidency: Why Gov. Yahaya Bello is Better placed – By Hon. Matthew Ochada (HMO)

The calls to have Gov. Yahaya Bello as the country’s next President may not be a surprise for anyone who is familiar with our socio-political landscape knowing that he meets the requirements needed to become the panacea to solving the myraid of the nation’s challenges.

The unprecedented calls for Governor Yahaya Bello from every corner of the country to offer himself to undertake the number one job in the country is a compelling awakening.

The present demand in actualizing the not too young to run bill, a law which allows youths determine their future is a clear indication that our country has not only begun to accurately understand that our world is changing, but that a significant segment of the population is ready to give what it takes to set Nigeria on the path of advancement, growth and prosperity.

Without stating the obvious,, I take the latitude of authoring this piece to assume that the recent calls by conscientious youths for a better country came in the context of agenda setting. It is, in my view, a guide for whoever is to become the next president of Nigeria. I wholly agree that such a strategic demand is spot on.

Let’s not forget that on the basis of geographical location, Gov. Yahaya Bello, comes from the Central region, that has not been opportuned democratically to occupy the plum job of fixing the country right.

Governor Yahaya Bello without mincing words has been working in silent over the years, thus making the call a rich avenue to showcase his credentials and indeed his credibility.

For Gov. Bello to have courageously endorsed a cause like the #EndSARS agitations describing it as something within the rights of the protesting youths is really inspiring.

He went the extra mile to offer to lead the protest conscientiously. This, for all good intents, was huge. Such a bold move at a time when other leaders had cold feet, portrayed Yahaya Bello as a good prospect for the Nigerian dream.

The Governor is not someone who delights in excessive media hype. His courage, capacity and passion for nigeria is said to be his ability to stay committed to doing only what he is convinced would advance the lots of his people no matter how unpopular.

The Nigerian youths have in Yahaya Bello a leadership that is accessible, contemporary and digital. With him, we now have our kind leading the charge for a new Nigeria. We have a choice to make. And the choice is simple. It is Yahaya Bello.

The nation over time has suffered decision making based on conviction. This aspect of leadership hardly ever comes easy. It comes with a price. But the good lesson young people will readily learn is that as a result of doing right, Governor Yahaya Bello was and is always ready to unpopular. But fortunately and thankfully, the media and the nation as a whole is now seeing the light in Gov. Bello’s many positive decisions.

For the All Progressives Party membership registration that is in progress to have again have appointed Gov. Yahaya Bello to drive the process speaks volumes. His voice for the youths to get registered and be involved means alot. It is hope that the Youths would harvest another golden opportunity presented through Gov. Bello.

The place of Unity in contemporary Nigeria cannot be over emphasized. Nigerians love each other. They want each other. They feel passionate about each other. Yahaya Bello has been watched closely enough and discovered to be a sure bet when it comes to unifying and preserving this important national asset.

As 2023 draws close, the need to draw up inspirations from Kogi State is already an interesting spot from which the country can draw positive inspirations. It is no longer news that the Confluence state under Yahaya Bello stands tall when it comes to unity. A state once polarized along tribal and religious lines have now become so unified that anyone can aspire for anything without being undone by faith, tribe or gender.

That the Nigerian Youths through Gov. Yahaya Bello have and would continue to have their voice heard and is being heard is not in doubt. The need to therefore remind them on the need to heed the counsel of Yahaya Bello to get involved in the political process towards the next dispensation remains a food for thought. This is because using his own personal journey as example, there would be no GYB today if he stood back and refused to get his integrity stained on the alter of the nation’s dirty and murky politics.

For a state bordering some ten states – a quality it shares with no other state, Kogi was almost overrun. But the white Lion came in and took the fight to the bandits. Today, insecurity has been brought to its barest minimum. In recognition of this demonstrated capacity, the northern governors recently appointed Governor Yahaya Bello to chair the region’s security efforts. This feat has been corroborated very audibly by the voices of notable personalities including the top brass of the security community. Reliable security analysts including the highly esteemed Babajide Kolade Otitoju of Television Continental spoke clearly to this feat to the applause of Nigerians.

What the country even as agreed by optimist is to have a visionary leadership in the mould of Gov. Yahaya Bello. This assertion almost always seem exaggerated. But Governor Bello as a visionary has no problem believing it. He came and appropriately revolutionized leadership order from youths being “the leaders of tomorrow” to youths being “the leaders of today”. Again, the Governor did this when the trend was only able to consign the potentials of Nigerian youth to a briefcase and telephone minders. Today there is now a positive change. It is now a common sight to find young men and women serving the state in capacities never before imagined.

Nigerians have much respects and expectations from the women folk. But no one has shown genuine commitment to this belief as much as Mr Yahaya Bello. Provosts of colleges, vice chancellors, commissioners, SSAs, SSG, HoS, ADC to the Governor (first of its kind), Executive Vice Chairmanship position… the list is endless. Yahaya Bello practices what he preaches. In my study of what the Nigeria woman wants in leadership. I’ve come to the realization after man justapoxitions that what the women need in Nigerian leadership space now is the Yahaya Bello effect. The gains made in the Confluence State is wholesome, verifiable and replicateable in the country moving forward.

It is an abundantly hopeful prospect that as Nigerians continue to engage the system, Governor Bello’s scorecard should be leveraged upon to achieve the desired progressive inspirations the nation has yearned for since independence for there is truly a lot of inspirations to be drawn and gained under the Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Presidency.

Covid19: Fayemi Lied About Kogi Death Rate – Group

The National Coordinator of the North Central Coalition for Leadership (NCCL), Williams Charles has said the Ekiti State governor , Dr Kayode Fayemi, who is the Chairman of the Progressive Governor’s Forum lied during a live interview he granted to Channels Television yesterday on the state of Covid-19 pandemic in Kogi State.

” I am totally disappointed at Dr. Kayode Fayemi. How on earth can he say people are dying in Kogi state of Covid -19? Where did he get his record or information from? Let him come clean with proof of this allegations on same National Television ” Williams stated.

” In order to justify your position, you do not make careless and unsubstantiated allegations. I live in Kogi state and this is strange to me. Not as if people do not die, but must we tie all deaths to Covid-19? This has gone a long way to justify the position of Gov. Yahaya Bello that some desperate politicians are on the prowl, taking advantage of the pandemic, but please do not drag Kogi State into your plans.

” It is on record that during the first wave of Covid-19, death rate reduced in Kogi state drastically. How this happened can only be explained beats any scientific explanation and the records are there to ascertain this. It is misleading, wicked and malicious to say people are dropping dead of Covid-19 in Kogi state. If he does not produce proof of this, then he has lost my respect forever” Williams said emphatically.

It would be recall that yesterday on Channels Television during an Interview, the Gov. Kayode Fayemi said that people of Kogi State are dying of Covid-19. This was in response to the position of Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi state who said during an event last week that Covid-19 vaccines is a fraud, meant to kill people and he won’t be part of it.

According to the I-G, the initiative is another milestone in the efforts of the force to put the welfare of its personnel on the front burner.

Adamu said his conviction that a motivated workforce was necessary for quality service prompted his administration, since its inception, to initiate several schemes targeted at improving the welfare of police personnel across all ranks.

He added that his administration prioritised promotion of police officers and men, executed an affordable housing scheme for junior personnel, facilitated loans at affordable interest rates, and delivered tricycles as empowerment means.

IF MEN WERE GOD: THE GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO EXAMPLE – By Oladele John Nihi

Sometimes I wonder if men were God what would have happened to us ALL. I’m sure there won’t be anything call us on earth. But thank God Almighty, men are not God.

I see some of us already taking the place of God Almighty, I mean those declaring who is a winner or who can win and those who CANNOT win come 2023 Presidential Election. Make una calm down, men are not God.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State is a child of destiny. We have some people created by God Almighty like that. In fact, there are many examples in the Holy Book like King David. It does not matter how you view such people, it doesn’t even matter their capacity or ability, such people operate under SPECIAL grace of God.

In 2015, many Kogites especially the political gladiators never see Alhaji Yahaya Bello as an aspirant much less a threat. But through divine arrangement, he became Governor of Kogi State and currently serving his 2nd term. Today, go to Kogi State, ask people who live in Kogi State or Google it on your phone, I make bold to say:
👉🏽 No Governor in Nigeria has made countless people they refer to as a ‘nobody’ somebody like him.
👉🏽 No Governor has given priority to women in Politics (both in appointment and support for Elective Positions) like him.
👉🏽 I’m sure we all know Kogi State is a YOUTH STATE. No Governor has supported youths for Elective Positions and dedicated over 85% of his appointment to YOUTHS like him.

There are other achievements in SECURITY, ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS UNITY, etc. Before you ask me of infrastructural Development in Kogi State, there are many with pictorial evidence but you will agree with me that the MOST pressing need/problem of our country Nigeria right now is SAFETY & UNITY OF NIGERIA(NS). There are roads and infrastructures in Northeast and other parts of the North but insecurity has made it almost impossible to use them. There are to a reasonable extent, economic growth in the southeast and other parts of the South but that has not stopped agitation for self-determination.

What our country Nigeria is in dear need of right now is someone that will UNITE & MAKE OUR NATION SAFE AGAIN. ABOVE ALL, A YOUNG PRESIDENT THAT WILL DEDICATE AT LEAST 85% OF HIS APPOINTMENTS TO YOUTHS/WOMEN. Search no further, we have seen and found this person – He is ALHAJI YAHAYA BELLO, Executive Governor of Kogi State. He is the UNIFIER with an unprecedented track record of YOUTH/WOMEN involvement in governance.

FINALLY, like I stated earlier, this aspiration may seems impossible to many NOW. It may even be seen as joke taken too far but one thing you should not FORGET is, GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER. The same God Almighty that changed his name from ALHAJI Yahaya Bello to GOVERNOR Yahaya Bello is alive to further change his name to PRESIDENT Yahaya Bello.

We didn’t approve an increment in electricity tariff – NERC

A 50% per cent increment in electricity tariff across the country was not approved by us, says the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The regulatory agency said, “No approval has been granted for a 50% tariff increase in the Tariff Order for electricity distribution companies.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NERC urged Nigerians to disregard the reports of an increment.

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to publications in the print and electronic media misinforming electricity consumers that the Commission has approved a 50% increase in electricity tariffs,” the statement said.

“The Commission hereby state unequivocally that NO approval has been granted for a 50% tariff increase in the Tariff Order for electricity distribution companies which took effect on January 1, 2021.

“On the contrary, the tariff for customers on service bands D & E (customers being served less than an average of 12hrs of supply per day over a period of one month) remains frozen and subsidised in line with the policy direction of the FG.

“In compliance with the provisions of the EPSR Act and the nation’s tariff methodology for biannual minor review, the rates for service bands A, B, C, D and E have been adjusted by NGN2.00 to NGN4.00 per kWhr to reflect the partial impact of inflation and movement in forex.

“In the light of strong public interest on this matter, the media is hereby requested to retract their earlier publications misinforming electricity consumers nationwide about a purported 50% increase in electricity tariffs.

“The Commission remains committed to protecting electricity consumers from failure to deliver on committed service levels under the service-based tariff regime.

“Any customer that has been impacted by any rate increases beyond the above provision of the tariff Order should report to the Commission at customer.complaints@nerc.gov.ng,” the Commission said.
